some say less than 20 (newsweek), some say 24-30(washington times), some even say 150! (FAS). but none of them are considered accurate sources.well, anyways, i think we are on the right track here. we are developing modernized missiles such as the DF-41, which would have no counterpart any where in the world when it enters service, maybe except the MX. and one other thing, when it comes to the field of nuke deterrence, we should emphasize on MIRVs, so that we can maximize deterrence with current DF-5A ICBMs. but IMHO, building up a modernized & powerful CONVENTIONAL military is even MORE important than a nuke force. i'm talking about advanced electronic warfare, PGMs, ships, & planes.
