Funding is not the only problem the services are experiencing. There is an acute man power shortage. The army has, this year, started recruiting from young offenders institutes and detention centres, though it's not so bad if its keeping these kids off the streets and teaching them some respect. In addition new recruits are not as fit as previous generations and fitness tests have been made easier.
Also, I have careful of what I say but depending on which tabloids you read, alcoholism and drug taking in the army is rife. I find it had to believe that the British Army is still considered as one of the top professional armies but what do I know?
