Chinese place a high value on appearances, and will never admit to any fault, always trying to put the blame on something or someone else. All societies in East Asia are that way. That's why Japan refuses to own up to her warcrimes.Sadly, I don't recall anything like George Washington and the cherry tree in China. That may have been a made-up incident, but it certainly helps set an ethical example like Aesop's fables or Lei Feng.
