it means something. I just know Laotian is Laotian with last name Loatian. Some may have Chinese in them. There are only 10,000 ethnic Chinese throughout Laos. Soon, it might be more because of their business associate as their economy rising. What are you talking self esteem issue? Of course, I wish I have European blood in me just to look better. In most cases, mixed always good looking. Per capita wise, China is till consider poor per U.N standard with GDP $6 trill (?) and 1.3 billion people? Chinese did not own anything in Laos until recently. I don't think Laos was even their desire to live back then comparing to Indonesia, Maylesia, Thailand. As far as the financial investment of these overseas Chinese that financed the economic rise of China in the 1990s when the West was shunning China, that could be one of the reasons. But the trade surplus with the West, and the U.S is far more than those investment, so export of cheap Chinese comodity is the main reason.
