Apparently the big majority of hindu soldiers stay in the army until mandatory retirement age:
"..About 35-40,000 soldiers retire from the 1.3 million strong Army each year...."
Can't blame them. The hindu military is one of the few places there offering 'decent' pay and pension. Another is that soldiering is the traditional job of the martial castes
The PLA(army,airforce,navy,rocket corp..)has about 2.2 millions personnels with declining manpower
"The PLA once consisted of recruits with no higher than middle school or high school degrees. But in 2001, it began recruiting those with a college background. By 2014, nearly 150,000 of the PLA’s 400,000 annual recruits were college students and graduates.."
