not only that, but claim to be the "real" Chinese (as if we were somehow tainted). Maybe their ancestors did indeed wish not to be Chinese anymore, but they obviously can't get along with the host country very well yet would stand out like a sore thumb in ML/TW.
I concede that the Jewish Nazi example isn't entirely apt, because these Nazis never considered themselves to be Jews in the first place, but I was pointing out that automatically expecting someone to be a friend because of shared ancestry is foolish. Secularity had nothing to do with Israeli authorities giving Nazis citizenship simply because they had a Jewish grandparent (be definition, Nazis are the antithesis of Jewish "ultranationalists"!). They should have done some Trumpian EXTREME VETTING instead, just like Chinese authorities should be somewhat cautious of ABCs or Southeast Asians.
