Manley to avoid this entire fiasco in the first place?
What the new Justice Minister said is more than just echoing John mcCallum's statement. He went much further by admitting the extradition process is not just a judicial process but also of political considerations. He contradicted his boss the PM but more importantly imagine China's reactions if Canada still decides to extradite Meng after admitting the political nature of the process. China would flip her wig and declare open season on Canada.
The ONLY reason for the new Justice Minister to admit there are political considerations is to signal and assure China Meng would NOT be extradited. One can interpret this as Canada being caught off guard by the ferocity of China's response but I really doubt they can be that stupid and inept.
Ok, this is sheer speculation: the reason that Jody Wilson-Raybould was replaced could have something to do with Meng's case as well. She could be the reason why creative incompetence was never an option for the Liberal government. And Justine Trudeau needs to get rid of her when the time comes for the Liberal government to interfere in the judicial process and quash the extradition request.
