1)Seems to me, chinese hi-speed rails overall just start to break even(profit in coastal area, loss in inland..)
2)Hi-speed rail compete with short/medium haul plane flights
3)Ticket pricing strictly regulated by govt.
The same likely apply elsewhere except hindu semi-hi-speed rail probably move at average speed of about 110km/hr
I googled 'india semi high speed rail average speed' and came up with:
Type of train |
Operational speed |
Average speed |
High Speed |
300 – 350 km/h |
250 km/h |
Semi-High Speed |
160 – 200 km/h |
110 km/h |
Express Trains |
110 – 140 km/h |
60 – 90 km/h |
Passenger |
50 – 70 km/h |
30 – 40 km/h |
As with bharat, something obvious:
--Bharat presently has insufficient clientele for truely hi-speed train (Or just for 'hi-speed train club' membership?)
--What the hindu semi-hi speed train is supposed to replace/compete? 110km/hr is the hi-way speed of cars/buses in many countries
--What's a better option:To build hi-speed rail or improve present rail system?
