well, I can't help you if you don't believe the history book. I believe in official history, and there are plenty of witnesses' account. As for motive of defending the place, I don't think that matter much. Even if CKS hoped the west would interveneby showing them the determination to fight the japs, nothing wrong with that. I'm not saying Sun or CKS were saint, I just said that those soldiers who stayed behind deserved recognition, especially since the japs were known to be brutal and murderous to POWs. Despite what their superiors' planned for them, those soldiers did their duty to the utmost. As for the film portraying Sun or CKS in positive light, well take it with a grain of salt.
