EU-China trade deal must be done 'sooner rather than later'
The president of the European Chamber of Commerce in China, Jörg Wuttke, says the EU shouldn't worry about the US as the bloc closes in on a trade deal with China.

According New York Times report, there is a 126 page draft of this deal circulating in Europe among the relevant people. Most of it appears to be already in writing.

My 2 cents, as of today after digesting more news, is that this is a done deal, just the final details to be haggled over, and it will be signed next week. The Comprehensive Agreement on Investment suddenly became a real possibility just this past month, which kind of caught most people off guard. There is a deadline apparently of the end of this year, and there was a real push to get it done.
The objections over human rights or whatever they are objecting too, will not amount to anything.
China can actually agree to permit the campaigning to form labour unions, which apparently an EU demand. Of course, the CCP will throw that labour union organizer in jail for tax evasion. Europe knows China well enough to know that is what exactly will happen if they get the Chinese to agree to that.
The Chinese would think these Europeans are always full of it, but we still can make money. If they want a deal, then a deal will happen.
If the deal has a weird clause, where the Chinese agree to something that both sides know the Chinese will not do, and the Europeans will only pay lip service to in the future, while they destabilize Libya again, they will have agreed to something that they all can live with.
Furthermore, not much has ever stopped the further deepening of European and Chinese commercial interests these past few decades. People in Europe at least are aware of the world beyond their own countries, unlike the Americans.
There will be a clear loser when this deal happens and that is the human rights activist in Europe. They probably do not want a deal with China under any circumstances, but the world does not revolve around them.
If this deal happens like this, this would shut them up!
