A very nice article. When comparing almost the same type of Apple iPhone to a Huawei phone, the supply chain for each are different, where 2/3 of parts for the iPhone came from American campaniles, while Huawei got their parts from China 1/3, Japan 1/5, Germany 1/10.
This suggests two points, that there is some sort of decoupling of tech supply chains on a certain level, and that going forward if it decouples some more, no one is necessarily hurt by it; rather it would be more like being cut off from a market, if a worst case scenario happens in the future.
Consider the case of Japanese and German companies. If America and China decouples further, Japanese and German companies maybe chose to not sell to Chinese companies anymore. They would then turn to the Americans to sell their wares, but Apple may not buy from them, maybe Apple already happy with their American suppliers.
LOL.
Decoupling and isolation of China, fake news.
