"CCP propaganda dept has done a poor job"
CCP propaganda Dept has always done very poor jobs compared with the Propaganda Industry of the white West.
"China will be a rational power, that China will do the right thing, that China will not retaliate"
"Because they expect China to always restraint itself in the face of provocation, which China indeed has done since the opening of the economy"
China was not only a "rational power". It was also a WEAK power-- compared with murrika. Even today, China still needs critical technologies from the West. Without them, quite a few things would go the way Huawei smart phones do. So, I think China treading carefully in the past was justified. Russia did/does not have to worry about that partly because it is already so thoroughly sanctioned that it has nothing to lose anymore.
"But time has changed. China is in a battle of supremacy with the US, whether the Chinese like it or not, want it or not. China is already the second largest economy in the world. The US provocations have begun to evolve into real attempt to destroy China"
That is what I thought too. The time for a showdown has been forced onto China. There is really no creditable alternative to fighting BACK.
China's current confrontation with the West is a war of ambitions. China's ambition is to become a leading economic and technological power-- like many Western powers have done. The West's ambition-- especially murrika's ambition-- is to make China have no ambitions!!!
