but ASML won't just stay in place doing nothing, it is a race. Meanwhile, Chinese corporations need chips to make things, they can't wait, so they have to buy chips from foreigners, financing their R&D in the process. Another thing is that China is going alone in this, while the US is leading a pack of allies, like the euorpeans, japan, korea and even taiwan. They are sharing their tech and hence their R&D costs, all while they are already in leading position. But China has no other choice but to move forward with this, what else is other option but to compete head on? I hope China can make a breakthrough in new chip technology like it did in EV and automotive sector.
