and amazingly I found something similar:
Robert A. Heinlein: “Ignorance is curable, stupid is forever.”
link:孔子是怎样做到“人不知而不愠”的?我们自己怎样才能做到这一点 (baidu.com)
Confucius obvious got it right on ignorance but seems he didn't mention 'stupidity' specifically...
..........
I would conclude:
**'Ignorance' is unavoidable bcos there're always something we don't know; we're all ignorant to various extents.
** 'Stupidity' IMO is actually in many circumstances pyschological existential necessity; ie, you know it's stupid but you need it..
Most of the 'Stupidity' have ethnic, racial, 'religious', tribal root but often can't be avoided, examples like
-- insisting on 7-days creationism; religion at grass root level is basically tribalism; The clergy realise they got to maintain tribal coherence to keep their employment.

I wonder what the evangelists will say if conscious walking/talking androids/robots become common phenomenon in a few decades; will they call it the '8th day of creation' of Yahweh or Satan's creation ?
