Mostly because I doubt anything will come of it unless the Yanks lead the effort. They've always got their way when it comes to NATO-wide small arms issues. Firsst the 7.62 and then the 5.56mm Remember when we were interested in the 7mm round? Enfield built the EM2 in '47- revolutionary design really, the basis of the SA-80. Well the Americans weren't interested, the project collapsed and our lads were left with the bolt action weapons till the early '60s and the L1A1 9solid weapon, but not really what we needed) for another 20 years. it ook us 40 years to get what we really needed and wanted.
